Quin is a dog that is all around, a pleasure to own.  At home he is very laid back and gets along with other dogs.  He is good with kids and very tolerant of puppies.

In the field, he is a lot of fun to hunt behind combining the versatility of a utility dog with the style of a field trial dog.  His keen nose, strong pointing instinct, excellent game sense, and level temperament allow him to handle even the most difficult hunting situations effectively.  He was a very easy dog to steady to wing and shot and stop to flush. He learned stop to shot on his own and honors naturally with great style and intensity.  He works closely and carefully in heavy cover and wide and fast in the open.

Quin is very effective at putting meat in the freezer and is capable on all game. Over the course of the season we hunt pheasant, quail, ducks, geese, hare, rabbits and deer.

He is a tireless hunter with excellent stamina and focus throughout long days. We regularly hunt pheasants 4-6 hrs a day then shoot ducks in the evening for several days in a row and he keeps focused and working throughout.

While not a show dog, he easily attained his show champion title despite inexperienced handling.

Unfortunately, Quin had to run his NA test only 2 weeks after I got him. As we had not yet hunted together and I had minimal time to prepare him, he did not score as well as he could have. This lack of time was reflected particularly in the area of "cooperation" in which he was scored as "satisfactory" or 2/4.

It was accurate judging at the time as Quin was not quick to accept a new handler.  Since then, however, he has proven himself an extremely cooperative dog, particularly when working tough wild pheasants and jump shooting ponds, adapting his working style to be more effective without any handler input.
